Spiny shrub with many branches and ovate, rich green leaves, up to 7cm long. Fragrant, waxy, white, jasmine like flowers, 5cm wide, are borne in terminal or axillary cymes, up to 10cm long, in late spring; they are followed by plum-like, ovoid ellipsoid, red to purple black fruit, 5cm long.
Evergreen
shrub, grown for their gray or silvery foliage. Need good drainage.
Often become straggly with age; to keep them compact, cut back previous
year's growth by one-third each year before the first flush of spring
